Hopefully that clears up confusion for those reading this thread, especially for those who purchased the digital version and don't have a "Code".
(I've had boost sessions go wrong because people missed this.)
Portal 2 no steam patch Pc#
NOTE: BOTH you AND your co-op partner must have the PC version on each Steam account in use for the PS3 connections to work. I still play online on the digital version myself.
This works for both the physical and PSN digital download versions of the PS3 game.
Portal 2 no steam patch code#
However if both co-op partners have the PC version available on their accounts the connection works just fine.Įither through redeeming code (which the friend did), outright purchase of the PC game (which I did), or family sharing from another Steam account, all of these options will allow the PS3 online connections to work. What me and a PSN friend found through testing with our own accounts and alt PSNs was that if the Steam account linked to the PSN account in use does NOT have the PC version of the game available to play the connection will fail. The myth that the code does something special to allow the connection to work is not true - rather it's just the fact that your Steam now has the PC version of the game available for play. Edited Jby MercilessLightįrom Portal 2's friend list in the coop online menu, press (the More option) and select the option to redeem a bonus code. I can finally play online and Platinum the game!! Yay. From now on you should be able to send/receive invites to/from other players and data will sync properly with your Steam account. If done correctly, you will have a message to notify you that the code has been successfully redeemed. That code is supposed to be redeemed through Steam but it seems to work within the game. Input the code given with your game's original copy xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx (with the dashes). So basically I was online on Steam according to my PS3, but my account didn't exist according to Steam's web site.įrom Portal 2's friend list in the coop online menu, press (the More option) and select the option to redeem a bonus code. So I tried to retrieve info from my account, but neither my email or PSN ID would work on Steam's web site (no account with those information could be retrieved). I tried to log into my newly created Steam account on my PC through Steam but I didn't get the PS3™ - First time signing in? option.
I created my Steam account from Portal 2's game menu. (I suspected the connection to Steam's server to be faulty) Had an a auto-save loop even when playing the single player campaign. I have had the following problem and I couldn't find any solution around the web, so I'll post it here to help ppl.
